Lighting
We have 39 recessed ceiling fixtures in our home plus two florescent light fixtures. I was a big fan of quality of light halogen lights produce, so we originally used halogen bulbs in all of the recessed fixtures. Halogen bulbs have two issues. They produce considerable heat, which is especially an issue during the summer. Wherever there is heat there is energy and halogen bulbs consume a lot of electric.
We tried a few CFLs when they came to market, but quickly found that their electronics can’t take the heat and they burn themselves up fairly quickly. So I don’t consider CFLs to be the bargain we were over sold on.
Over the past year, our friend Dean Dorsey worked with his suppliers to make it possible for us to switch LED bulbs. So far so good.
