About
The House on Third Street
The House on Third Street is an extremely energy efficient and extremely healthy home located in Sandusky, Ohio. The home was built by Mark Norman and Sue Daugherty as a grassroots response to the escalating cost of energy. The home showcases sustainable building design and technology that can dramatically reduce the cost of energy and at the same time dramatically improve the comfort and health of the home’s environment. In addition to being energy efficient, the home won’t support mold, bacteria, flames or off gas. No wood is used in the structure and it is earthquake, wind, and bullet proof.
In a bottom up approach, The House on Third Street was built to demonstrate to the public and officials that there are products and systems available now that can greatly improve the health and energy efficiency of residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural buildings.
Our goal is to showcase these products and connect consumers with the companies that provide them. By popularizing and mainstreaming products like Insulated Concrete Forms, tankless water heaters, Air Exchange Units, we can dramatically reduced the amount of energy we use.
More than 3000 people have toured the home, including over thirty national, state, and local officials and over 40 corporate representatives.
