Standing Seam Roof
We choose to use a standing seam galvanized powered coated steel roof for a number of reasons. Asphalt shingles off-gas petroleum or Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). The heat from the sun causes the petroleum used to make the shingles to evaporate into the environment. When all of the petroleum evaporates, shingles dry out and curl and need to be replaced. On the other hand, off-gassing isn’t an issue with standing seam roofs – and they can last 50 years and longer. They are also slightly cooler during the summer.
